Ben Ashworth Ben Ashworth

Ben is a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution department. Ben trained and qualified at a large regional firm specialising in insolvency litigation and commercial debt recovery where he gained considerable experience in commercial dispute resolution.

Paul G. Bartholomew Paul G. Bartholomew

Paul is a solicitor in the Real Estate department. Paul trained and qualified as a solicitor at a City firm and for many years was a property partner in a large local firm. He joined PDT in 2003 as a consultant. Paul specialises in most aspects of commercial property dealing mainly with development projects both residential and retail including options and forward commitments for acquisitions and disposals: local authority highways and other infrastructure documentation including general commercial conveyancing for occupiers and investors.

JANE BOWDEN JANE BOWDEN

Jane joined the Real Estate department as a partner in September 2008. She has over 13 years experience of residential development work and has acted for all types of property developers from major plc’s to owner-managed businesses. She spent over 10 years in private practice and more recently was the “in-house” lawyer for a niche private house-building firm.

Jane deals with all forms of site acquisition and disposal work as well as related planning and infrastructure agreements.

Craig Burton Craig Burton

Craig is an associate in the Real Estate department having qualified at the firm in 2008. Craig advises on a wide range of commercial property matters with particular interest in retail, industrial and office lettings and residential development work.

Craig advises both landlords and tenants and developers and landowners and has experience dealing with both large national retail clients and small independents. As a result of advising on both sides of the transaction Craig is able to advise both commercially and pragmatically to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients.

Craig is part of the pharmacy team advising on acquisitions and disposals and advises a number of pharmacy groups on their property matters.

Helen Byng Helen Byng

Helen is a chartered legal executive who joined PDT in 2002. Helen previously worked in the commercial property department of a leading national firm of solicitors based in London. She manages the plot sales team who act for a number of property developers and housing associations, and deals with the preparation of all documentation in connection with the sale of freehold and leasehold plots.

JAMES CLEWLOW JAMES CLEWLOW

James is head of both the Real Estate team and Pharmacy team. He has extensive experience of commercial and residential developments and acts for a number of regional housebuilders and housing associations. He advises regularly on all forms of development agreements, acquisitions and disposal.

James leads a busy pharmacy team advising pharmacies on acquisitions and disposals and commercial aspects of their pharmacy business. He acts for independent pharmacists, multiples and chains as well as a number of banking institutions in complex investment and refinance transactions.

James is recognised for his practical and sensible commercial advice and his calm, but firm, negotiating stance.

Robert Ganpatsingh Robert Ganpatsingh

Robert is a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution department. He has a broad range of commercial litigation experience predominantly in contractual disputes and insolvency and construction related disputes. Robert has also developed significant expertise in Intellectual Property related disputes, particularly with regards to infringement of copyright, trademark and design rights.

Robert has a wealth of recent experience and expertise in dealing with freezing injunction orders in high value commercial contract disputes.

Robert is a strong negotiator and he is experienced in advising on and dealing with alternative dispute resolution including arbitration, mediation and adjudication.

Robert regularly presents seminars and web seminars on commercial dispute resolution matters and has been interviewed on BBC regional news on insolvency related matters.

Rebecca is a Partner in the Company Commercial team.

Ian Lindley Ian Lindley

Ian is a senior associate in the Company Commercial department. He formerly practiced bankruptcy law and commercial litigation in the Delaware and Philadelphia offices of a leading US law firm. Prior to entering legal practice, Ian received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Edinburgh and Boston College. He was born and raised in the Republic of Singapore.

Ian’s practice focuses on insolvency, commercial and intellectual property matters. He advises clients with respect to business sales and acquisitions, shareholder arrangements and corporate governance, all aspects on insolvency law and practice, and the establishment, sale, licensing and enforcement of intellectual property rights.

Noel Ruddy Noel Ruddy

Noel is a partner and head of Company Commercial and Insolvency. He trained in the City before joining pdt in 1991. His particular expertise is in receivables financing and asset based lending generally, but he has also established a reputation for his private equity work in a range of sectors. Nighat Sahi Nighat Sahi

Nighat is a partner and heads our Employment Department. Nighat qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and joined pdt in May 2011.

Nighat is an experienced employment lawyer, having cut her teeth in a niche employment practice based in the City. Nighat represents and acts on behalf of Respondents (businesses) and Claimants (individuals) in all aspects of employment law.

Nighat’s ethos is to provide a focused consultative and advisory approach to all her client’s needs, whether it involves litigation, advice on procedure, policies, handbooks, or simply seeking advice on best practice to resolving disputes through mediation.

Nighat’s clients range from businesses covering a wide variety of sectors, directors and senior executives to junior employees. She advises businesses and individuals on a variety of areas including: redundancy dismissals, redundancy procedures, complex TUPE claims/procedures, discrimination, harassment, equal pay, unfair dismissal, health and safety dismissals, maternity/paternity rights, part-time and fixed-term workers rights, agency worker’s rights, whistle blowing, restrictive covenants, breach of contract and conciliation and settlement of claims.

Dawn Shadwell Dawn Shadwell

Dawn is a partner in the Company Commercial and Insolvency departments.

Her experience ranges from initial advice for business start-ups to more comprehensive advice relating to share or business acquisitions/disposal as well as providing general company commercial advice. Dawn is also a specialist advisor to the asset based lending industry and by undertaking a secondment at a major invoice financier and passing the ABFA Certificate she has insight into the ever demanding decisions that need to be made every day by the industry. Dawn also regularly provides customised training to many of the firm’s factoring clients.

Dawn’s insolvency expertise has been obtained by working closely with insolvency practitioners for over a decade advising on all aspects of corporate insolvency. Jo Williams Jo Williams

Jo qualified as a solicitor in October 2010 and works in our Real Estate department.

Jo directly assists James Clewlow acting for developers, housing associations and insolvency practitioners, advising administrators, liquidators and trustees on disposals, surrenders and disclaimers.

Jo is also a member of the pharmacy team offering advice to independent pharmacists on acquisitions and disposals throughout the country. Jo is currently involved in a major refinance programme of pharmacies throughout the country.
