William is a partner in the Dispute Resolution department. Having gained a broad range of experience in contractual disputes, he advises on all aspects of the litigation process with a particular emphasis on asset finance, construction, factoring law and contentious insolvency work.
Ben is a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution department. Ben trained and qualified at a large regional firm specialising in insolvency litigation and commercial debt recovery where he gained considerable experience in commercial dispute resolution.
Ben advises on insolvency litigation and commercial debt recovery, with a particular focus on factoring and invoice discounting litigation.
Paul is a solicitor in the Real Estate department. Paul trained and qualified as a solicitor at a City firm and for many years was a property partner in a large local firm. He joined PDT in 2003 as a consultant. Paul specialises in most aspects of commercial property dealing mainly with development projects both residential and retail including options and forward commitments for acquisitions and disposals: local authority highways and other infrastructure documentation including general commercial conveyancing for occupiers and investors.
Jane joined the Real Estate department as a partner in September 2008. She has over 13 years experience of residential development work and has acted for all types of property developers from major plc’s to owner-managed businesses. She spent over 10 years in private practice and more recently was the “in-house” lawyer for a niche private house-building firm.
Jane deals with all forms of site acquisition and disposal work as well as related planning and infrastructure agreements.
Anne joined the Debt Recovery team in 2005 having worked in the financial services sector for many years. Anne has an in depth knowledge of debt recovery process acting for a variety of clients including local businesses, factors and insolvency practitioners on the collection of debt ledgers.
Craig is an associate in the Real Estate department having qualified at the firm in 2008. Craig advises on a wide range of commercial property matters with particular interest in retail, industrial and office lettings and residential development work.
Craig advises both landlords and tenants and developers and landowners and has experience dealing with both large national retail clients and small independents. As a result of advising on both sides of the transaction Craig is able to advise both commercially and pragmatically to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients.
Craig is part of the pharmacy team advising on acquisitions and disposals and advises a number of pharmacy groups on their property matters.
Claire is a senior associate solicitor in the Company Commercial department, advising on all types of commercial agreements for individuals and companies, including factors and insolvency practitioners.
Claire is also a member of our employment team, drafting contracts and consultancy agreements, and advising companies on employment issues arising on sale or purchase of a business.
James is head of both the Real Estate team and Pharmacy team. He has extensive experience of commercial and residential developments and acts for a number of regional housebuilders and housing associations. He advises regularly on all forms of development agreements, acquisitions and disposal.
James leads a busy pharmacy team advising pharmacies on acquisitions and disposals and commercial aspects of their pharmacy business. He acts for independent pharmacists, multiples and chains as well as a number of banking institutions in complex investment and refinance transactions.
James is recognised for his practical and sensible commercial advice and his calm, but firm, negotiating stance.
Ruth is a member of the Company Commercial team focusing on and assisting in the production of specialist documentation for many large financial institutions including banks, regional funding organisations, factors and insolvency practitioners.
Ruth is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Legal Executives after previously completing a Business and Law Degree at Sussex University.
Nigel is Senior partner of the firm and has over 25 years of commercial litigation experience. He is the head of our Dispute Resolution department. His particular areas of expertise are fraud, insolvency and contractual disputes.
Nigel is a co-editor of Salinger on Factoring which is the leading work on the law as it relates to the assignment of book debts and which is now in its fourth edition. He has lectured widely on fraud related matters.
Mark is a solicitor in the Corporate Department. He specialises in company and commercial matters, including acquisitions and sales, restructures, shareholders’ agreements, terms and conditions and partnership agreements.
Mark qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and has experience acting for all types of companies from incorporation, through growth and development, to sale.
Rebecca is a Partner in the Company Commercial team.
Rebecca specialises in corporate finance matters including acquisitions and mergers, MBOs/MBIs, investments, private equity, joint ventures, re-organisations and refinancing. Rebecca has assisted clients on a variety of shareholders’ arrangements, commercial contracts and corporate governance issues.
Rebecca studied at City University in London where she gained a Business Law degree. She has over 12 years’ experience advising businesses on a broad range of company and commercial issues including partnerships and LLPs. Rebecca’s aim is to seek practical and commercial solutions for clients.
Gina joined the Debt Recovery Team in 2011 having previously worked in Pensions and Insurance. In her time with pdt she has developed an in depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial recoveries from Letter Before Action to Enforcement. Gina represents local businesses, factors and invoice discounters in debt recovery matters.
Ian is a senior associate in the Company Commercial department. He formerly practiced bankruptcy law and commercial litigation in the Delaware and Philadelphia offices of a leading US law firm. Prior to entering legal practice, Ian received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Edinburgh and Boston College. He was born and raised in the Republic of Singapore.
Ian’s practice focuses on insolvency, commercial and intellectual property matters. He advises clients with respect to business sales and acquisitions, shareholder arrangements and corporate governance, all aspects on insolvency law and practice, and the establishment, sale, licensing and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Ian holds the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency.
Carl joined the Real Estate department in September 2008. He has over 20 years experience in residential property development, plot sales and shared ownership work. He works along side Helen Byng in the plot sales team acting for property developers and housing associations.
Gail is an associate in the Dispute Resolution department. Gail spent 3 years working within pdt’s real estate department before moving across into dispute resolution in July 2006. She deals with general commercial work with a focus on factoring and invoice discounting matters. She also advises on property litigation issues.
Diana is an associate in our Dispute Resolution department having trained and practised in the City for three years. She represents a number of large financial institutions focusing mainly on factoring and invoice discounting. Diana deals with general contractual disputes and has advised on EU regulatory issues.
Noel is a partner and head of Company Commercial and Insolvency. He trained in the City before joining pdt in 1991. His particular expertise is in receivables financing and asset based lending generally, but he has also established a reputation for his private equity work in a range of sectors. He is also known for his work in advising insolvency practitioners on a wide range of matters relating to corporate insolvency.

Her experience ranges from initial advice for business start-ups to more comprehensive advice relating to share or business acquisitions/disposal as well as providing general company commercial advice. Dawn is also a specialist advisor to the asset based lending industry and by undertaking a secondment at a major invoice financier and passing the ABFA Certificate she has insight into the ever demanding decisions that need to be made every day by the industry. Dawn also regularly provides customised training to many of the firm’s factoring clients.
Dawn’s insolvency expertise has been obtained by working closely with insolvency practitioners for over a decade advising on all aspects of corporate insolvency. She also has considerable experience acting for directors when purchasing the assets of a distressed company and regularly advises funders on their alternatives in relation to distressed clients.
Jeff is an associate in the Real Estate department having joined pdt in 2005. Previously, Jeff trained with and spent over three years in the Surrey office of a City law firm. He has dealt with a broad range of commercial property matters, and has particular experience of acting for developers and Housing Associations.
Laura trained at a city firm and qualified as a solicitor in 2003.
Before jointing pdt Laura worked for a regional firm specialising in consumer credit, asset and motor finance where she gained considerable experience.
Laura is an associate in the Dispute Resolution department where she continues to undertake consumer credit, asset and motor finance work.
Laura’s practice focuses on factoring and invoice discounting litigation where she advises financial institutions in respect of guarantor and indemnity actions and complicated debtor claims, as well as undertaking a variety of general commercial contractual disputes.
Laura is known for her commerciality and will seek to resolve disputes with the best possible outcome for her clients as swiftly and cost effectively as possible.
Laura regularly gives lectures on the effectiveness of enforcement proceedings.
Jo qualified as a solicitor in October 2010 and works in our Real Estate department.
Jo directly assists James Clewlow acting for developers, housing associations and insolvency practitioners, advising administrators, liquidators and trustees on disposals, surrenders and disclaimers.
Jo is also a member of the pharmacy team offering advice to independent pharmacists on acquisitions and disposals throughout the country. Jo is currently involved in a major refinance programme of pharmacies throughout the country.
