Published: 23 January 2019
PDT’s corporate team has advised Neill Western, the sole shareholder of Western Business Exhibitions Limited (WBE), on the sale of WBE to Nineteen Group. The acquisition follows an investment in Nineteen Group by private equity firm Phoenix Equity Partners.
"I’ve been a very happy client of PDT for many years so there was no question as to who would represent me on this deal. I needed to ensure we completed in a very short timeframe and PDT delivered exactly that. Noel and Mark guided me throughout the transaction, making the complex process seemingly simple. I would not hesitate to recommend PDT’s services."
Neill Western,
Operating from East Grinstead, WBE’s portfolio comprises ten exhibitions, including The Fire Safety Event and The Health & Safety Event, and a very successful publishing business focused on security, health and safety, fire and facilities management.
In April this year WBE is staging a new event, aptly named ‘The Security Event’, at the NEC Birmingham. This exhibition complements Nineteen’s already successful “International Security Expo”, which takes place at Olympia London, and will strengthen Nineteen‘s position as a leading trade exhibitions business in the security sector.
Noel Ruddy, Head of Corporate, said “I’ve known Neill for many years and seen him grow his business substantially. Taking his team and great portfolio to Nineteen Group is a fantastic achievement and I’ve no doubt the WBE business will grow and propsper under its new ownership. I wish him and Nineteen Group every success going forward.”
Mark Diamond commented “It was a pleasure to work with Neill on this deal. We had a short timeframe in which to complete, but the parties worked collaboratively and made sure we got there. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
Neill Western was advised by Noel Ruddy (Corporate), Mark Diamond (Corporate) and Bhavna Patel (Employment).
