On Day 6, Noel Ruddy, Head of Corporate talks to longstanding PDT client Tony Murphy, licensed insolvency practitioner and director at Harrisons Business Recovery, who compares PDT rather favourably with a trip to Santa’s grotto (we think!)

How have your worked with PDT this year?  And what has that experience been like?

Working with Noel is like visiting Santa’s grotto. Exciting and I always leave with a smile on my face. However, there are no Elves which is a shame. Or Snow. Or presents. But seriously, PDT have been one of my go-to firms for the last 20 years. The insolvency team at PDT is one of the best in the industry and I always enjoy working with them.

What changes has 2021 brought you / your industry and your career?

Fell in love again, bought a house and took up knitting as, for the most part, the Government’s initiatives to protect the economy have resulted in few insolvencies.

If Santa could bring you one gift that would help or improve your working life what would that be?

An Anti Idiot Scanner / Cloaking Device.

What are you looking forward to the most this Christmas?

Alka Seltzer on Boxing Day

What is the most bizarre Christmas present you have ever received/ given?

Mother-in-Law bought me Rubber Gloves to wash up the dishes

I bought her a Witches’ Broomstick as her car was broken

What’s the best or worst cracker joke you’ve ever heard?

What’s an insolvency practitioner? Someone who arrives after the battle and bayonets all the wounded.

What do you call an impecunious cat? A paw purr

In a Christmas fantasy land, who would be the famous figures (past or present), at your dinner table and why?

Joe Marler (England Prop) for fun

Christopher Hitchens for the wit and intellectual conversation

Margaret Thatcher for Eye Candy

What do you think 2022 will bring for you, your career and relationship with PDT going forward?

Hopefully, 2022 will be a much busier year for all of us as the business cycle begins to normalise after the pandemic. If that happens then I foresee more work for all of us and buckets of stress (in a good way!)
