Covid-19 Community Pharmacy Champions
At times when the government has taken a ruthless axe to community pharmacy, our pharmacy clients are showing them what the word community means.
Facing challenges such as a significant increase in demand for medicines, coupled with a change in public behaviour and panic buying over-the-counter painkillers in response to the lockdown, the Covid-19 pandemic has put tremendous pressure on pharmacy teams.
We want to thank all our community pharmacy champions for the fantastic service they are providing. I spoke this week to Mitesh Patel from Medicine Clinic who runs 10 community pharmacies in the Southampton area. Whilst he has appeared regularly on BBC news TV and radio where the focus of the soundbite has been medicine shortages, he says that the real champions of the story are the ordinary people working tirelessly in the pharmacies, and so this is a big shout out to them and all our pharmacy clients and their staff for the great work they are doing.
