Lawyers in Lockdown - PDT Covid-19 Legal Hub
PDT's Marketing Manager Lindsay Ryan reflects on working from home in lockdown and the creation of the PDT Covid-19 Legal Advice Hub.
It would be fair to say my time in lockdown has been all about balance. Regaining it, realigning and providing stability; for our clients, for my work and for my family.
I am fortunate that PDT is a flexible employer and so my normal working hours are balanced around my family commitments. Working from home is not unusual for me and I normally work from home on Wednesday, savoring this quiet time, time I use to focus and work without distraction. However, in the last couple of weeks I have gone from a good balance of face-to-face meetings and quick tea break catch-ups to fully working from home, or more specifically working from my dining room table that I share with my husband. Time and routine have become our focus in order to stay efficient whilst also looking after and educating two primary school aged children. We have adapted (with the welcome launch of Disney+ and the many online educational websites) to balance the requests for snacks with the importance of having quiet on a call or focus for an online meeting.
As the Marketing Manager, I am interested in the human side of this crisis, how we as a firm are responding, how we are staying connected and how our clients are overcoming the challenges they face. It is important now more than ever to keep communicating with our clients, to remind them that we are here as their support, and to provide the most up-to-date advice and information in this fast changing and challenging environment. My key aim has been getting a COVID-19 legal advice hub up and running as quickly as possible and keep broadcasting a steady stream of useful content.
On a similar note, I have felt the importance of communicating with each other, to remind each other we are here for support, that we are all adapting to this new environment and for me I cannot stress how valuable the use of video call technology has been for this. The COVID-19 pandemic has unbalanced many aspects of our lives and forced us to rethink our practices. As we settle into another week of working from home, I hope to continue to embrace technology to stay connected and settle into a balanced routine which allows me to both keep promoting PDT as a trusted partner and cherish this time with my family.
